Product Description:

• Physiotens contains an active substance called moxonidine. 
• This active substance belongs to a group of medicines called " antihypertensives ".
  Physiotens is used to treat high blood pressure ( hypertension ).
• It works by inhibiting nerve signals to the muscles in the blood vessels, this causes the blood vessels to relax and dilate. This helps to lower your blood pressure.

How To Use:

• The usual starting dose is 0.2 mg daily in the morning.
• If sufficient therapeutic effect is not achieved, the dose can be increased to 0.4 mg after 3 weeks. 
• The dose can be given as a single dose or divided into 2 doses.
• If the effect is still insufficient, the dose can be increased to 0.6 mg after a further 3 weeks. 
• Daily doses of more than 0.6 mg and single doses of more than 0.4 mg should not be exceeded.
• The dosage should be adjusted individually according to the patient's response.

Warnings And Precautions:

Do not use Physiotens if:

• You are allergic (hypersensitive) to moxonidine or one of the other ingredients in Physiotens.
• You have a slow heartbeat caused by a heart disease called "abnormally functioning sinus node" or " AV block degree II or III" you have heart failure.
• Do not take Physiotens if any of the above apply to you. 
• If you are unsure, talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Physiotens.

Exercise caution when using Physiotens:

Consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking Physiotens if:

• You have a heart problem called " AV block degree I"
• You have serious cardiovascular disease or unstable heart spasms ( angina )
• You have problems with your kidneys. Your doctor may need to adjust your dose.
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking Physiotens if any of the above applies to you (or if you are unsure).
• Physiotens can cause dry mouth with an increased risk of tooth decay .Therefore, be careful with your oral hygiene.

Use of other medicines together with Physiotens:

• Tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are using or have recently used other medicines, this also applies to over-the-counter medicines, including natural medicines. 
• Physiotens can affect the way other medicines work and other medicines can affect how Physiotens works.

In particular, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any of the following medicines:

• Other medicines against high blood pressure.
• These can increase the effect of physiotens.
• Medicines for depression such as trimipramine, clomipramine nortriptyline, doxepin or amitriptyline ( tricyclic antidepressants )
• Tranquilizers or sleeping pills like benzodiazepines
• Beta blockers.
• Physiotens is removed from your body through the kidneys by a process called "tubular excretion". 
• Other medicines that are removed from the kidneys in the same way can affect how physiotens works.
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking physiotens if any of the above applies to you (or if you are unsure).

Taking Physiotens with food and drink:

• The tablets can be taken with or without food
• Do not drink alcohol while using Physiotens as Physiotens can increase the effect of alcohol.

Pregnancy and breast-feeding:

• Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or become pregnant during treatment. 
• Your doctor will usually suggest stopping Physiotens and instead advise you to take another medicine.
• Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding or about to start breastfeeding. 
• Physiotens is not recommended for breastfeeding women. 
• Your doctor will usually advise you to take another medicine if you wish to breast-feed or ask you to stop breast-feeding.
• Consult a doctor or pharmacist before taking any type of medicine if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
