Description
Sodium alginate, sodium bicarbonate, and calcium carbonate oral suspension
What is sodium alginate, sodium bicarbonate, and calcium carbonate used for?
It is used to treat symptoms caused by the reflux of acid, bile, and pepsin into the esophagus, such as acid regurgitation, heartburn, and indigestion, for example, after meals or during pregnancy, and for symptoms of excess stomach acid (hyperacidity).
It can also be used to treat symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD) during or after treatment with an acid-suppressing medication.
Do not take sodium alginate, sodium bicarbonate, and calcium carbonate if:
You have a hypersensitivity to sodium alginate, sodium bicarbonate, calcium carbonate, or hydroxybenzoate esters (parabens).
Warnings and precautions:
This product is high in sodium. This should be taken into account particularly by those on a low-salt diet (for example, in some cases of congestive heart failure and renal impairment). Use caution if you have hypercalcemia, renal calcification, or recurrent calcium deposits containing kidney stones.
Taking this product can mask the symptoms of other, more serious underlying medical conditions.
Contains methylparaben (E218) and propylparaben (E216), which may cause allergic reactions (possibly delayed).
This medicine contains 2.1 mg of benzyl alcohol (from fennel flavor) per 20 mL dose. Benzyl alcohol may cause allergic reactions.

Other drugs and sodium alginate, sodium bicarbonate, and calcium carbonate:
Tell your doctor or pharmacist about all the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements. Due to the presence of calcium and carbonate, which act as an antacid, a two-hour interval should be observed between taking this product and other medications, especially:
H2 antihistamines (cimetidine, famotidine, nizatidine, and ranitidine)
Tetracyclines (doxycycline, minocycline)
Digoxin
Fluoroquinolones (ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin)
Iron salts
Thyroid hormones (levothyroxine)
Ketoconazole
Beta-blockers (atenolol, metoprolol, propranolol)
How to take sodium alginate, sodium bicarbonate, and calcium carbonate:
Adults and children over 12 years: 10-20 ml after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day.
How to store sodium alginate, sodium bicarbonate, and calcium carbonate:
Keep this medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Do not store above 30°C. Do not refrigerate or freeze.

Sodium alginate, sodium bicarbonate, and calcium carbonate chewable tablets must also be prescribed according to the therapeutic indication and the severity of the disease in each individual patient.
